A filter screen, often simply referred to as a filter, is manufactured by processing metal wire mesh of various mesh sizes. Its function is to filter the molten material flow and increase flow resistance, thereby removing mechanical impurities and enhancing the mixing or plasticizing effect.

Filter screens are classified into textile-fiber filters and metal filters. Equipment equipped with filter screens is called a filter, which is used to purify natural water and food products, among others.
Product Uses
1. Used for screening and filtration under acidic and alkaline conditions; in the petroleum industry as mud screens, in the chemical and synthetic fiber industries as screening and filtering meshes, and in the electroplating industry as pickling meshes.
2. Used in industries such as mining, petroleum, chemical engineering, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and mechanical manufacturing.
3. Used in air conditioners, air purifiers, range hoods, air filters, dehumidifiers, dust collectors, and other equipment, suitable for a wide range of filtration, dust removal, and separation applications.

The applications of filter media are continually expanding, and they are now commonly found in households as well.
Raw materials
Metal filter screens are typically made from stainless steel wire, nickel wire, and brass wire. In tightly woven metal wire meshes, the weft wires are arranged in a densely packed pattern, and the weaving can be carried out using five methods: plain weave, twill weave, plain Dutch weave, twill Dutch weave, and reverse Dutch weave. Nickel strip is a ferromagnetic metallic element that can be highly polished and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance. It is primarily used in alloys—such as nickel steel and nickel silver—and as a catalyst, notably Raney nickel, particularly for hydrogenation reactions. As such, it is an excellent raw material for manufacturing filter screens.
