As the ceremonial cannon salutes ring out and the National Flag Guard marches forward in crisp, resolute step, it feels as though we have been transported through time and space back to those tumultuous years of war. The military parade is not only a commemoration of victory in the War of Resistance; it is also the most profound tribute to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence and the liberation of the people. Every measured stride of each formation and every piece of equipment on display tells the extraordinary story of the Chinese nation’s journey from suffering to glory.
