Air Filter Manufacturer: Introduction to Air Filter Installation

To ensure effective air purification, the air filters in purification equipment generally need to be replaced at regular intervals. In most cleanrooms today, air filters are installed in the ceiling supply vents, and the installation method—as well as the pre-installation verification—directly determine whether the filter has any leakage points. Pre-installation verification is essential for establishing valid, objective conditions; therefore, careful attention must be paid to the proper methods and techniques during installation. Key precautions include: the air filter must only be replaced after the HVAC system’s supply airflow has been shut down; and the sealing gasket between the filter and its mounting frame must be tight and leak-free to guarantee optimal filtration performance.

Air Filter Manufacturer: Introduction to Air Filter Installation

To ensure effective air purification, purification equipment typically requires periodic replacement of its internal air filters. In most cleanrooms today, air filters are installed in the ceiling supply diffusers; the installation method and the pre-installation verification process both play a critical role in determining whether the filter has any leakage points. Pre-installation verification is essential for establishing valid, objective conditions, so it is crucial to pay close attention to proper methods and techniques during installation. Key precautions include: the air filter must be replaced only after the HVAC system’s supply airflow has been shut down; and the sealing gasket between the filter and its mounting frame must be tight and leak-free to guarantee optimal filtration performance.

Installation method for the air filter:

Prior to the installation of air filters, the cleanroom must be thoroughly cleaned and wiped down. If there is accumulated dust inside the air-conditioning system, it shall be cleaned and wiped down again until cleanliness requirements are met. When filters are installed in technical plenums or suspended ceilings, these spaces must also be comprehensively cleaned and wiped down.

Prior to installation, the components must be thoroughly cleaned. Air supply outlets equipped with air filters shall be installed and replaced in a cleanroom, and sealing gaskets must be installed at the joints between the outlet flange and the ceiling panel. For air outlets installed and filter screens replaced within technical plenums, short duct sections shall be pre-embedded during civil construction prior to installation; any gaps between these short duct sections and the ceiling panel must be tightly sealed. Outlets with damaged surface coatings shall not be installed. Upon completion of installation, the outlets shall be promptly connected to the ductwork, and the open ends shall be tightly sealed with plastic film and adhesive tape.

After the cleanroom and the purified air-conditioning system have met the cleanliness requirements, the purified air-conditioning system must be put through a trial run. It shall operate continuously for at least 12 hours, after which the cleanroom shall be cleaned and wiped down again, and the air filters shall be installed immediately.

The filter packaging must be opened at the installation site for a visual inspection, which shall include checking for damage to the filter media, sealing gasket, and frame; verifying that the side lengths, diagonal dimensions, and thickness conform to the specified requirements; inspecting the frame for burrs and rust (for metal frames); and confirming the presence of a product certificate of conformity and that the technical performance meets the design requirements. Leak testing shall then be performed. Filters that pass both the visual inspection and leak test shall be installed immediately. During installation, the filters should be properly matched according to their individual resistance values; for unidirectional airflow systems, the difference between the rated resistance of each filter and the average resistance of all filters on the same air outlet or supply air surface shall be less than 5%.

When installing the air filter, the arrow on the frame must be aligned with the airflow direction. When the filter is installed vertically, the pleat seams of the filter media should be perpendicular to the floor. Regardless of whether sealing is achieved using gaskets, pressure-sensitive adhesive, negative-pressure sealing, liquid-seal troughs, or double-ring seals, the surfaces of the sealing material, the filter frame, the frame itself, and the liquid-seal trough must all be thoroughly cleaned.
