1. Resistance
Resistance is categorized into two types: initial resistance and final resistance. Typically, the final resistance is about twice the initial resistance; for high-efficiency filters, the final resistance is 2 to 3 times the initial resistance. Resistance is directly proportional to air velocity—higher air velocity results in greater resistance. Increased resistance, in turn, degrades fan performance, raises energy consumption, and drives up costs. Therefore, when selecting an air filter, users often opt for one with low resistance and high filtration efficiency to achieve optimal cost-effectiveness. It is important to note that once an air filter reaches its final resistance rating, it should be replaced promptly; continuing to use it beyond this point can lead to significant losses.
2. Efficiency
Air filters are typically classified by efficiency into two standards: the U.S. standard and the European standard. The European standard commonly used is as follows: G1–G4 filters are primary-efficiency filters, usually made with polypropylene or glass-fiber media; F5–F9 filters are medium-efficiency filters, predominantly using glass-fiber media. Since the filter media differ, so do the filtration efficiencies. When selecting air filters, many customers first consider their cleanliness requirements and evaluate the filtration efficiency of various media, in order to choose a product that best meets their needs and offers good value for money.
3. Dust Holding Capacity
Dust-holding capacity directly affects the service life of a filter: the greater the dust-holding capacity, the longer the service life.
